In the name of God amen
The fourteenth day of July in the year of our lord God according to the computation of the church of England one thousand six hundred and fifty I Gilbert Longe of Great Paxton in the countie of Huntingdon gentle man, being sick and weake in bodie but of perfect mynde and memory (thanks be to God therefore) doe make and ordayne this my last will and testament in manner and form following.
Inprimis I commend my soule into the hands of Almightie God my maker and creator hopeing to be saved by the merit of God in Christ Jesus and my bodie to the earth to be buryed where my executor shall appoint in the church yarde of Great Paxton.
Item I give and bequeath unto my cousin William Younge the elder of Offord Darcy in the said countie of Huntingdon gent. that bond and debt of tenn pounds and sixteen shillings owing unto me by the said William Younge and due to me at Michaelmas next.
Item I give and bequeath unto my cousins Thomas Bolton the elder, Roger Bolton and William Bolton his brothers and to every of them twentie shillings a peece to be paid unto them immediately after my decease.
Item I give and bequeath unto my cousin William Bolton’s seven children three pounds a peece to be paid unto them as they shall attayne unto their severall ages of one and twentie years.
Item I give and bequeath unto my cousin and godsonne Thomas Younge six pounds to be paid unto him immediately after my decease.
Item I give unto my cousin Charles Younge, John Younge and Humfrey Younge sonnes of the said William Younge four pounds a peece to be paid to them at their severall ages of one and twentie years.
Item I give and bequeath unto my cousin Margaritt Lane the summe of twelve pounds to be paid unto her immediately after my decease.
Item I give and bequeath unto my cousin Roger Bolton’s daughter Elizabeth four pounds to be paid at her age of one and twentie years.
Item I give unto Samuell Harris his children viz.t to his eldest sonne named Samuell Harris four pound to be paid unto him immediately after my decease. And to Thomas Harris and Judah Harris eight pounds a peece to be paid unto them at their severall ages of one and twentie years.
Item I give unto my cousin Christopher Fisher eight pounds and unto Thomas Fisher and Elizabeth their sister four pounds a peece to be paid unto them at their severall ages of one and twentie years.
Item I give unto my cousin and godsonne Gilbert Fanne tenn pounds to be paid unto him immediately after my decease.
Item I give unto my cousin Owen Fanne, John Fanne and Mathew Fanne five pounds a peece to be paid unto them at their severall ages of one and twentie years.
Item I give unto Maria Fanne and Sarah Fanne five pounds a peece to be paid unto them at their severall ages of one and twentie years.
Item I give unto Richard Port the summe of five pounds to be paid unto him at his age of one and twentie years.
Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Kinge of Great Paxton, widdow, the summe of six pounds to be paid unto her immediately after my decease.
Item I give and bequeath unto John Kinge of Huntingdon Woollen Draper the summe of fifteene pounds to be paid unto him immediately after my decease.
Item I give unto the poore of Great Paxton the summe of four and forty shillings to be disposed at the discretion of my cousin William Fanne and all the rest of my worldly good and chattels moveable and unmoveable house and freeholde land meadow and pasture I give and bequeath unto my cousin Thomas Fanne of Buckden in the said countie of Huntingdon, yeoman, and to his heires and assignes for ever, whom I doe make and ordayne executor of this my last will and testament. And I doe nominate and appoint the aforesaid John Kinge to bee overseer of this my will that if any differents shall be made hereafter arise about my will the said John Kinge shall give the true meanings and interpretation thereof and if any one before nominated in this my will shall refuse to abide such his interpretation as aforesaid that then my will he, she or they so refusing shall loose the benefit of this my will and the legacies herein to him, her or them given. And whereas I have given by surrender containe coppyholde lands holden of the Manns of Great Paxton to my cousin William Fanne surrendered unto mee by John Archdeacon the elder and John Archdeacon the younger, my will is that if at any time hereafter the said lande shall be redeemed (they being but conditionally surrendered) that then my said cousin William Fanne shall have the whole summe of money that shall be paid for the redemption of the said coppyholde lande.
In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seale this day and year above said of me Gilbert Longe published and declared to be my last will and testament in the presence of us and the worde
